Act
Anyone and
everyone can have a profound impact on people with disabilities in their own
communities and nationwide, both Pi Kappa Phi members and nonmembers alike. All
it takes is that first step of getting involved. Maybe you’re not ready to run
a marathon, but what if you could gather a group of friends to run the Cooper
River Bridge Run as part of Push America Challenge?
If you are a
member of Pi Kappa Phi, now is the time to get involved and dedicate your time
to serving people with disabilities. Your chapter can find a local organization
with whom to partner on a regular basis. Many organizations hold local events
that need extra hands, or other programs that can foster relationships between
members and people with disabilities. On a more individual level, have you ever
considered a summer event? Journey of Hope, Gear Up Florida and Build America
are events that will impact your life and the lives of others for years to
come.
Even if you aren’t
a member of Pi Kappa Phi, you can still have a hand in changing the lives of
people with disabilities. Chances are, between Build America, Gear Up Florida
and Journey of Hope, one of Push America’s team events stops within a
reasonable distance of where you live. Hosting a team for a meal can be the
difference in a team member’s summer, especially after long days on the road
away from home.
Whatever you
choose, it is Push America’s hope that you take that next step to benefit
people of all abilities. If you are looking for opportunities or organizations
that serve people with disabilities in your immediate area, please contact the
Push America office.
